6. A good album gets the deluxe edition treatment. I remember buying this album in Clapham, as a young kid I strutted through the high street with the album clad in its lilac and white candy striped bag, singing 'A Town Called Malice' - those were the days. Never a classic album in my mind though, but one that helped shape my youth/5().

7. “Town Called Malice” was first released as a Double A-Side single with Precious in , before being featured on the album, ‘The Gift’ a couple of months later. The track depicts life in Woking as.

8. “Town Called Malice” was a Number One hit single and deservedly so. Motown influenced – THAT intro! – It is a brilliant song. “The Gift” closes with the title track – and it’s great. I don’t think that “The Gift” is the best album by The Jam – but it is close – and a really good way to bow out.
